ABOUT

The LaSalle Dental Hygiene Center (LDHC) is one of the first independent oral hygiene clinics to offer personalized preventative hygiene for all ages. From a child's first cleaning to a senior citizen looking to maintain their dental health, co-founders Freweini Gebreamlack (pronounced "Free") and Huei Chen Lee (pronounced "Way Chen") are on a mission to transform the way we approach oral healthcare.

With over 18 years of experience and three years of dental hygiene training, these skilled women are true professionals in oral health.

When you hear how passionate they are about helping people improve their oral health, you wonder what held them back so long from opening their own clinic? “As soon as the new law was passed in 2020 allowing hygienists to practice without a dentist, we knew it was time to bring affordable oral care to everyone,” says Freweini.

CHDL has received many positive reviews, so anyone looking for an alternative approach to preventing cavities, oral diseases, and getting their teeth cleaned should book an appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ)

Why have a cleaning at a dental hygiene clinic and not at my dentist’s office?

You will always be followed by the same hygienist. The dental hygienist will create a list with recommendations on what needs to be done to improve your oral health. Dental hygienists are trained to spot any issues in your mouth and are fully qualified to make recommendations to improve your overall oral health.

Are the fees covered by my insurance?

Yes, the dental hygiene clinic accepts coverage from most major insurance companies, but it is the patient's responsibility to know the limits of their insurance coverage, such as the frequency of cleanings, the percentage of reimbursement, the annual amount allocated, etc.

Do I have to see a dentist?

Yes, it is recommended to visit your dentist at least once a year for an overall evaluation with dental radiograph to verify for any possible dental decay that cannot be visible to the naked eye. Some may need to see their dentist more frequently depending on their personal situation.

Who will benefit more from independent dental hygiene practice?

Everyone will benefit from dental hygiene services, but most importantly people with gum problems, young children with braces, and quick tarter formation (calculus). In most cases the need for frequent cleaning will be mentioned by your hygienists at your visit. Moreover, people with no dental insurance coverage will be able to have affordable dental cleaning.

Can a hygienist do teeth whitening?

Yes, a hygienist can perform teeth whitening in the office or create custom made trays for home whitening, however a prescription from your dentist stating that the condition of your mouth is suitable for the treatment is required.

Why do I need a prescription from a dentist for my whitening?

Anyone who wants to do whitening at a dental hygiene clinic needs a prescription from a dentist stating that no active cavities or gum conditions are present, we need a confirmation that the enamel is suitable for professional whitening.

The prescription must include the whitening technic required and instructions needed in clinic to perform the treatment. The prescription is usually valid for a period of 12 months from the date it is signed, unless the dentist indicates a shorter duration.

What does it mean if you have desensitizing teeth?

Desensitizing teeth means applying various dental protections or reversing a certain sensitivity by applying different types of protective agents directly to the teeth. This particular agent will block the dental tubules exposed to the different temperatures that cause tooth sensitivity.

Is there an age limit for visiting the dental hygiene clinic?

Dental hygiene clinics welcome all age groups, from the age of 3, for their dental cleaning routine.
